Our Classrooms
All Tobin School program are offered on a traditional school year calendar (from September to June). For the 2009-2010 academic year, we are offering the following educational opportunities at The Tobin School:
Morning Preschool
Offered only Tuesday and Thursdays for children ages 3-4, our Morning Preschool classroom is a fun introduction to learning. This classroom enrolls up to 18 children per day, with three teachers, is open from 8:45 1:15. Morning Pre-Kindergarten
For children aged 4-5, we offer a three day per week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) program in our Morning Pre-K classroom. This vibrant classroom accommodates up to 18 children per day with three teachers. The school day for this group is 8:45 to 1:15. There is no extended day option for this group. Junior Kindergarten One
Accommodating up to 10 children with one teacher, this classroom provides a wonderful place for those prekindergarteners (aged 4 and up) who seek an introduction to a typical school day. This classroom is a mandatory five days per week with a daily schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. These children are eligible to attend a special Extended Day program beyond 2:00 p.m. For more details about our Junior Kindergarten curriculum, please see the Curriculum Overview Early Childhood area of this website. In addition, these students attend twice weekly Studio Art class and Music Appreciation and Animal Science class once per week. A twice-weekly physical education class is conducted onsite here at Tobin.
Junior KindergartenTwo
Accommodating up to 12 children with one teacher, this is a unique option for children whose birthdays fall close to the traditional kindergarten cut off date of the end of August. Prime candidates for this classroom have some beginning readiness skills, have already had at least one year of preschool, are independent and social. This classroom is a mandatory five days per week with a daily schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. These children are eligible to attend a special Extended Day program beyond 2:00 p.m. For more details about our Junior Kindergarten curriculum, please see the Curriculum Overview Early Childhood area of this website. Kindergarten
A traditional Kindergarten program, this Tobin School class can accommodate ten to twelve students with one teacher. Kindergarten students are eligible to attend our Tobin Afterschool in Natick program.
First and Second Grade
Our combined 1st and 2nd grade mixed-age classroom accomodates up to 12 students with one head teacher. These students share a common Social Studies and Science curriculum but split apart for mathematics and language arts instruction with additional academic support. First and second grade students are eligible to attend our Tobin Afterschool in Natick program.
Third and Fourth Grade

Dress Code
All our Tobin School students are asked to adhere to our dress code as follows:
Boys Collared polo shirts, button downs, turtlenecks of any color/pattern. No character shirts of t-shirts. Khaki style pants or shorts or cordoroys in any color. No camouflage pants, jeans, or sweatpants.
Girls-- Collared polo shirts, button downs, turtlenecks of any color/pattern. No character shirts of t-shirts. Khaki style pants, shorts, skirts, jumpers, dresses in any color or plaid. No camouflage pants, jeans, or sweatpants.
No hats to be worn at school.
A sweater or fleece over a collared shirt or turtleneck is encouraged in colder months.
Footwear--Comfortable shoes allowing for active lifestyles is encouraged for all our students. Children in our Morning PS/Pre-K classroom may wear sneakers daily. Our Primary students may wear sneakers for Physical Education days only. No Crocs of flip flops. |
