Administrators
Mary Beth Claus Tobin, our founder and Executive Director, and Lori Davis, our Head of School, bring over fifty years of working in early childhood education, elementary education, afterschool programs and special education. Both Mary Beth and Lori have invested themselves in building a unique program at Tobin—where all types of learners are treated respectfully and supported with the programming they need to achieve.
Faculty
The faculty of The Tobin School are dedicated, professional educators who are committed to providing an outstanding experience for their students and families. All of our elementary educators are master’s level teachers. The majority of our early childhood educators also carry a master’s degree or are in process of attaining this advanced degree. Many come to us with years of experience in public and private setting and feel that the small class sizes and intimate community at Tobin allow them greater freedom in teaching and the ability to truly meet the needs of their students. We are committed to providing professional development (typically 40-50 hours of training per year for each) to all our faculty to keep them up to date on new learning trends, classroom management techniques, special education topics, health and safety issues, and much more. All our teachers are certified in First Aid and CPR. In addition to their focus on their students, we encourage our faculty to build strong parent relationships and support communication with our families through a combination of classroom websites with weekly news updates, faculty office hours, faculty email addresses, parent teacher conferences, and casual conversation in your child’s classroom at drop off and pick up.
Specialists
In addition to our classroom teachers, Tobin has an outstanding team of specialist educators who facilitate our visual arts, music education, physical education, foreign language, yoga, technology, and social emotional learning curriculum. Parents are kept up to date on all these special subjects through a monthly Spotlight on Specials newsletter.
