This year's Tobin School Family Volunteer Fair was held on Saturday, November 5th from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. How do we describe this year’s Volunteer Fair! How about EPIC! The weather was great, the turnout was excellent, and we had so many, many folks participating in all our activities. While it is certainly hard to quantify all the good things that happened on Saturday, 11/5 here at Tobin, we wanted to pass along our “Volunteer Fair by the Numbers” to show you all that was accomplished:
At this year’s Family Volunteer Fair, between our two buildings, we:
- Had an estimated 200 people participate in this great event
- Made 154 bracelets for Handmade 4 Hospitals
- Rolled and baked hundreds upon hundreds of dog biscuits for Buddy Dog
- Made 51 cat toys and have a $45.00 donation to go to the Buddy Dog Humane Society Shelter
- Created 70 silly, joke-filled cards for Make a Child Smile
- Decorated and filled 315 ‘snack bags’ (paper bags with a drink, a snack, and a donated toy) for A Place to Turn food pantry here in Natick
- Tied up 4 no-sew fleece blanket for The Binky Patrol
- Made 96 ‘sugar cone cornucupias’ for the Natick Senior Center’s upcoming Fall event
- Sold a ton of books to allow us to give a donation of $257.00 to Reach Out and Read
- Held our funny photo booth which allowed us to collect $144.00 for Operation Smile
- Has super building fun at our two Construction Zones which brought us a donation of $164.00 for Habitat for Humanity
- Donated 10 boxes of leftover books to the Friends of the Morse Institute Library for their book sale
- Sold beverages, snacks, and pizza to support Alex's Lemonade Stand with a donation of $368.43 to this great organization
- And collected too numerous to count kid’s shoes and socks, as well as some clothes, to support Cradles to Crayons
Our thanks to everyone for all the generous donations of money, items to support our stations, and who helped us at this year’s event. We could never pull off such a significant community service effort without all of our wonderful Tobin families. Thanks for supporting our school’s community service mission!
